POSITION SUMMARY:

To work as part of a team. Responsible for registering patients and making appointments following practice procedures. Typing, answering phones, transferring calls to the appropriate person or department, taking messages, and general telephone support for the practice.

MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS

  1. Verify all patient information for correctness and completeness.
  2. Schedule patient appointments for office visits according to policy.
  3. Utilize computerized system to match provider availability with patient's preferences in terms of date and time.
  4. Ensures that patient appointments are updated in a timely fashion.
  5. Communicates as needed with providers, clinicians and other staff about any patient concerns/issues related to scheduling.
  6. Take patient calls inquiring about location, directions, and any other questions.
  7. Tactfully handles difficult situations; contacts are handled professionally and consistently with courtesy.
  8. Reschedule cancelled appointments and send flag to physicians for cancelled appointments.
  9. Verify insurance coverage and benefits.
  10. Schedules procedures based on set parameters.
  11. Manages referrals.
  12. Documents all communications with patients.
  13. Devise schedules according to provider time and space availability.
  14. Keep schedules updated incorporating changes daily.
  15. Revise provider schedules to maximize efficiency.
  16. Tactfully handles difficult situations; contacts are handled professionally and consistently with courtesy.
  17. Help in scheduling patients with unique needs, as requested.
  18. Other duties as assigned.




Certified Medical Assistants (CMA)

POSITION SUMMARY:

A non-exempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties at Northern NM Gastroenterology Associates (NNMGA). May be involved in both the clinical and administrative areas including assisting providers with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical services at NNMGA.

MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS

  1. Fulfills patient care responsibilities as assigned that may include checking schedules and organizing patient flow. Accompanying patients to exam or procedure room. Assisting patients with walking, transfers, dressing, vital signs, and preparing for exams. Collecting patient history, performing screening per provider guidelines. Assisting providers with various processes and procedures. Documentation of patient visit. Relaying instructions to patients and their family. Answering calls and providing pertinent information.
  2. Follow up via our EMR to assure all orders are completed by the patient and follow up as needed with the provider.
  3. Take phone messages and provide feedback and answers promptly to patient/provider or other outside callers.
  4. Fulfills environmental responsibilities as assigned that may include setting up instruments and equipment according to department protocols; cleaning exam/procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control; ordering, sorting and storing supplies; restocking exam/procedure rooms.




Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant

POSITION SUMMARY:

An exempt position responsible for providing patient care services as it relates to gastroenterology practice including assessing, diagnosing, prescribing, treating, and educating patients. Works closely with physicians and other clinicians in a team approach to patient care.

MAJOR DUTIES/CRITICAL TASKS

  1. Assesses patient status by obtaining health history through patient/family interview and chart review; assessing presenting illness, risk factors, and family history, psychosocial situation, and cultural factors; and performing appropriate physical examination.
  2. Orders/performs appropriate laboratory diagnostic and other screening tests. Seeks other information as needed, including consultation with physicians and other clinicians, for evaluation of illness. Integrates data to determine diagnosis and therapeutic plan, including identification of any health risks.
  3. Develops and implements treatment plan by prescribing/dispensing medications and/or injections in compliance with medical practice guidelines and state laws. Instructs patient/family regarding medications and treatments. Educates patients regarding health promotion/illness prevention. Recommends and communicates appropriate community resources to meet patient/family needs. Communicates appropriate case management information to other professionals and community agencies. Prepares documentation for medical records including updating patient medical chart by posting examination and test results, diagnosis, medications, and treatment in written/computerized manner.
  4. Participates in peer review, chart review, staff education, clinical guideline development, and other continuing education and quality assurance activities to demonstrate compliance with standards, regulations, policies, and procedures. Acts as consultant/collaborator to clinical team on area of specialty. Complies with patient confidentiality requirements. Promotes patient advocacy.
  5. Collaborates with physicians in managing acute and long-term medical needs of patients. Provides monitoring and continuity of care between visits according to treatment plan including triaging patient calls/portal messages.
  6. Respond and manage patients in EMR that require covering other providers “desk top” to respond to filling Rx, review lab, pathology and radiology results.
  7. Other duties as assigned.




Physician-Gastroenterologist

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a general GI to join our established practice. We are the only GI group in Northern New Mexico, and we have been serving New Mexico and lower Colorado for over 30 years. The new associate physician will enjoy a fast ramp to a full caseload as well as track to partnership

  • General GI - ERCP available but not required
  • Join a group of 4 physicians and 3 advanced practice providers
  • 150,000 service population with no competition
  • 4 day work week (3 procedures, 1 clinical)
  • Endoscopy center is 49% physician owned - new physician becomes fully partnered in practice 2 years after joining and fully partnered in endoscopy center over a 2-year period after becoming a practice partner, no buy-in
  • Call 1:5 (weekly)
  • All medical facilities close proximity/no commute
